Foodgasm Festival 2015 in Dataran PJ and A&W fan

1 Nov 2015 - I was excited when I saw this new festival, my favourite word - FOOD.

And then I saw the event, as per the invitation:

Now, you see that Malaysia event organizers are getting more and more creative. We will have something to celebrate almost everyday, despite those normal festive season. Now, we have so many special non-religious festivals, and other new days like no-bra day,haha..untill I don't even know which event should I go first.

And as you can see the event invitation was of course tempting. I bring my whole family to go to the event, dying to go there to buy lots of food and drinks.

We reached around 10am, looking for parking for 2 rounds, because everyone occupied almost every single side parking that they can find. Finally, we parked in a parking building of a market or food court, it was located near to Waikiki bar area.

And with my baby, we walked all the way to Foodgasm, Dataran PJ.

Super super huge dissapointment.

Okay, you say bad weather, muddy grass. I don't blame you alright, it is the weather, not the organizer purposely ask for rain.

crowded, long queue, and you mentioned bringing picnic mat, and all your funky funky really picnic stylo stuff.

Sighed, not even a proper place to place a mat. everyone just sit whatever places that they could and just eat take-away food and drinks.

Can you tell me what are the differences of Foodgasm with Ramadhan pasar malam? Well, I do understand street food, but this is like 99% all local street food like a massive night market/ pasar malam.

We didn't visit any of the bazaar/ stalls as the muddy ground, long queue, and inconvenience to bring my baby around. Lucky enough, you are kind-hearted to have the modern food truck at the roadside, away from the muddy grass.

And luckily, some proper food from the modern food truck. So I get to enjoy 'Thyme Out' mexican food, and its fresh orange juice. I don't expect much as it is such a big crowd, little staff, and many people were waiting for the fresh mexican food.

Anyway, it was not that bad, but not the best. Too salty.

And we are so fed up with the whole concept, except these cute backdrop, where I have time to take photo with my family.

We cannot take it anymore, so we moved on to the A&W, to get some cool air.

The A&W outlet near to Dataran PJ was crazy, the queue was so long. Luckily, we remembered there's another hidden A&W outlet near to our multi-level public parking.

So we get to sit down, and I ordered my most favorite- A&W root beer, curly fries, and ice-cream waffle. Ended too much ice-cream, fotgot they put ice-cream float in the root beer as well.

But  my husband doens't really like the A&W rootbeer, which is why maybe, why we know that the outlets are almost vanished in klang valley, perhaps A&W should propose/ suggest other drinks as alternatives to those who don't take root beer.

After chilling out in A&W with its air-conditioned environment, we headed over to Tanjung Sepat to visit temple and to enjoy seafood lunch.

Perhaps, Foodgasm, you should control the quality of your event?
A&W can propose other softdrinks or other drinks too!

1 day trip to Gold Coast Morib - Shun Ping Temple Tanjung Sepat, and Golden Sea Restaurant

1 Nov 2015 - After the massive jam and hot sun, and muddy grass in Foodgasm 2015, we continue to our next stop - to Morib, Gold Coast. Never knew it took even 1 more hour from PJ to reach to here!

We have to pass through lots of small narrow village roads, and I end up 'almost' tokyo drift my car...pressing the brake and turning left at the same time, just because I miss seeing an exit at my left. However, I am surprised the GPS works so well in the village area.

We stopped by this small temple in Tanjung Sepat - Shun Ping Temple. Thought just to go for a simple prayer. An old grandma saw us and ask us if we are coming here to ask her 'questions'. turned out she is a medium. Well, since we were here, and we had never tried before, we just give a try, just for fun.

Husband sits down, and 'niang niang' grandmother starts to speak malay to him! and her malay was good....

She told me husband needs a change of luck, and lack of what he did was....

walk in circle at the flagpole...

burnt some joss paper, offer some money in angpow to the 'niang niang' and some donation to the temple, took some flowers water to bring back to wash off the bad luck during shower, and have to drink the water with some burnt chanted paper for 4 days, and use both hands to swipe the face up and down for 3 times....

Hmmm...well, the good thing is the medium doesn't really ask for lots of money. Her children explained to me many people from far will come all the way to ask her questions, and she is quite 'accurate'. 'niang niang' says although many people asks on behalf of other people by providing her their chinese date of birth and year of birth, the best is still for you to go and meet her in person.

I was laughing and ask, " my husband doesn't have chinese birthday, how are you gonna predict?" "he comes in person, so it is okay, because I can see his face."

Operating hours: 10am - 6pm, after 830pm...prefer call to make appointment.

Hp: 012-6793409 (niang niang)

Add: 400, Kampung Batu Untung, 42800, Tanjong Sepat, Selangor.

I see...okay, next.....

We passed by Golden Seafood Restaurant. It was facing the Morib Gold Coast beach. I saw the sea was so far away at 3pm, so we didn't walked all the way to the sea. But, anyway, heard it is dirty and not suitable for swimming either, so probably just take a walk on sand, and listen to the musical wind.

Add: Lot 13045 42700 Banting Selangor

We were so thirsty that we ordered 3 coconut water, each RM 5.

This is the surrounding, the boss told me they also have some turtles as pets. In chinese, we believe turtles represent long life...

When I go to seafood restraurant, the first thing that I must order is fried lala meehoon. It is not easy to find the nice one. I only can recall I had a good fried lala meehoon only in Kuala Selangor.

Well, they passed, not bad, but almost RM 20....hmmm...not cheap though.

See their kam heong bamboo clam? Kam Heong is always good to cook with seafood/ shell-fish.

The boss strongly recommends this salted fried prawn mantis, which is not in their menu. and yeap, it was really really delicious.

The "niang niang" relative introduces me to Asam Batu Laut Restaurant instead.

Add: Banting Sungai Mosok, Batu Laut, Kampung Nelayan, Tanjung Sepat, Malaysia
And we passed by a coffee shop by the name of handmade hailam bun, the coffee shop name is Kedai Kopi IUI in Dengkil if not mistaken. The sellers do not understand any local languages that I speak.

Their pao fillings are too little, but the flour was okay, and their hailam coffee are really aromatic and nice.

Any other places or food that I have missed out?

Unborn X Reborn Art by Elena Kravchenko and Aleff Ahmad - Sembilan Art Residency Program

31 Oct 2015 - Get to know about Unborn X Reborn Art Exhibition through Sembilan Art Residency Program.

Sembilan was aimed to support painter/ artists, helping them to creatively explore, express their ideas, and allow them to exhibit their work at the end of the residency. Ah okay, so this is why it was named as Sembilan Art Residency. I guess you know why it was called Sembilan, because it was originally from Negeri Sembilan? Well, that was my guess.

This time, Unborn X Reborn features works by Elena Kravchenko from Russia and Aleff Ahmad from Malaysia, showcasing all in Awegallery in PJ, and yeah, the painting are for sale.

Mr Aleff Ahmad in the middle, talking with the guests.

Through the whole exhibition, I was attracted to the painting 'character' of the astronauts, the telur mata kerbau (I almost thought the fried egg was real), durian musang king, the acrylic on wood. It seems the astronaut is going on an uncertain food adventure....hehe...

Awegallery is great for exhibition, art gallery, gatherings, events, a space for you to have any special occasions. (not wedding la)

And we should always support art, "The work of art is a scream of freedom"
