Mun Kee Fish Head in Taman Midah, Cheras

*Mun Kee is closed at Taman Midah. They have another brance near Leisure Mall area.

15 Jan 2016 - An update as I crave for curry fishhead and some simple Seremban omelette.

I was able to eat so much tofu puff, vegetables, there are quite a lot of fish meat as well, just that the curry base still need to be improved, it seems that there is just a taste of spicy, but not the rich texture of really as tasty like those in mamak.

Of course, the classic omelette always come in handy....the typical recipe is the big onions, eggs, carrots and prawns. They are generous, they add on pork sausage for us...

9 August 2015 - I have been always loving steamed fish, especially when it comes to steamed fish head. Now this is a tricky part, I do not know and also afraid to steam a fish, probably is because the fish meat is soft, and it won't be nice if it is overcooked, it is all about your cooking skills, which is why...

I was born as an eater and not a cook! Ah ha!

So, we passed by Taman Midah, and noticed there is a brand new steamed fish head open air restaurant. So-called restaurant, but it is open air concept, no air cond, and with an extended roof to accommodate more customers. Preciously, near to RHB/ Hong Leong Taman Midah.

So, we ordered almost every kinds of steamed fish in the restaurant - traditional soya sauce, ginger sauce, homemade spicy sauce, black bean sauce. Only the black bean sauce steamed fish head was so-so, others all are great.

The homemade beancurd was surprisingly nice as well, with the topping of minced pork.

All steamed fish head are priced at RM 26-28. We tried their fish broth soup but it was just okay for me, nothing really special.

World Bachata Festival 2015 in Wisma Bentley, PJ

24 Oct 2015 - I came across World Bachata Festival event when I saw Ms Yan Li posting in a facebook event group. And I was so curious what is Bachata all about, and it turned out to be so interesting!

So what is the festival all about? The festival focuses on celebrating Bachata, a sexy and sensual partner dance from the Dominican Republic. It will also include other popular Latin Rhythms like Salsa, Merengue, Zouk and Kizomba. Latin Dance lovers from Malaysia and the world will come together to experience an amazing, inspiring weekend! wow, now you feel like shaking your butt and sway your leg, huh?

I was delighted when I was invited by Ms Liitha, the founder and organizer of the World Bachata Festival 2015. I invited another 3 of my lady buddies to join straight for the Saturday night - performance party on 24 Oct 2015 in Wisma Bentley.

I was helping Ms Liitha to do some PR marketing and also blogger invitation. Talking about this, sighed, it was not easy to become a PR media agency. We have to deal with clients, arranging the media invitation, make sure the media and bloggers did showed up for the event, and after that, to make sure the bloggers write about the project, and the list goes on. As responsible and workaholic as it is,I hope that clients understand my situation and I hope bloggers do understand their commitment when it comes to this.

We reached at 8:30 pm, with a slight delay on the dance performances time, so the usual routine, let us take a selfie first:

So these are the dance performance from World Bachata Festival 2015 that you have missed out:

However, my phone battery went dead after recording Jessica Smith's dance show. So allow me to off from my work, and let my pair of eyes enjoy watching the whole show instead of video recording with my shaky hands, haha!

I am so proud to see The KL Son Project performing in our classic Baju Kebaya (ladies) and the gentlemen are really have a sense of humor. The unexpected transformation would be La Rueda Dance from Thailand, the most organised dance performance will be La Avante from Singapore, the most innovative creative bachata dance show was Cin and Beau from Thailand, performing their fusion Bachata dance, Kalnish Schubert from Malaysia performing classic Bollywood dance, and my most favourite Bachata dance throughout the night is Jessica Smith and Juan Carlosfrom Cali Colombia, and also Juan Ignacio Ruiz (who is also the emcee of the night) and Shade from Australia, talk about multi-talents, they are really awesome!

thanks to the dance performers!

To those who loves to see dance performance, like to learn in dance workshop, and those who enjoys meeting dancers from all around the world, you shouldn't miss the show. World Bachata Festival is being held every year, in KL, Malaysia, but who knows? We can hope to see the festival will be 'travelling' around the world! See you next year!

Elevate fine dining experience in Marini's on 57

07 June 2013 - suddenly we have so many famous rooftop restaurant and bar in KL. The next, everyone trying to compete to get the best skyview or experience sky dining at the highest floor. So, which restaurant has it?

Marini's On 57 claims they are by far, the Malaysia's Highest Rooftop Bar, Italian Restaurant and Lounge.

What can you enjoy when you are in Marini's on 57?

They have rooftop bar, Italian restaurant and whiskey and cigar lounge; each offering its own unique flavour.

Well, least your evening and night moments are on the top of the sky...well, almost...Here are the details I get from Marini's on 57 Facebook:

photo from

BAR - A place to spend an evening to remember while enjoying a drink from our selection of single malts, cocktails, champagnes and fine wines by the glass and sitting back to savor soul-moving music from our in-house DJ.

photo from

RESTAURANT - With our two in-house chefs hailing from Italy, the land of beautiful food and people, this fine and warm-dining Italian restaurant serves only the best authentic Italian food in town. Be prepared to indulge in our chefs' recommended menu using only the selected freshest ingredients of the day, or choose from our a la carte menu with dishes comprising of handmade pastas to imported aged beef and veal cuts, live oysters and seafood platters to traditional thin-crusts pizzas. Sit back and savor our extensive wine list while beholding a first class view of the KL city skyline.

LOUNGE - Meet for business and pleasure, relishing fine wines and whiskies, with the surrounding of lounge music. The perfect place for after-dinner drinks amidst classic evening music.Oh yeah, you get to buy all exclusive imported cigar as well!

When chef told me even food has trendy season like fashion, I was like WOW! For real?

Some of the photos shown are as per seasonal menu, so it might not appear in their ala carte menu.

The chefs here have to think of the menu of the month, so that they can surprise you with different food everytime you come.

So time to say cheese!

as you can see, this is spring/ summer food presentation, see all the mini rocks? representing a beach theme!

Open, and I get to enjoy the scallops in the greenery, LOL!

If not mistaken, this is cold cuts of lobster carpaccio with truffles & scallop carpaccio with caviar dust RM 198.

AGNELLO - Roasted lamb served with potato gnocchi & pumpkin, topped with shaved truffles RM 198./

And as usual, I know little about desserts, presenting you the process of seeing the chocolate bombe melting in front of me, and also...melting in my mouth...yummmmmm..

All the way, the chocolate flows!

And of course, what is the most iconic building in Malaysia?

Favourite spot where everyone taking the shots of the twin tower, Once the world's tallest, these 88-story towers bear a modern Islamic design and a visitor sky-bridge.

And it's so classic, and well, now, you get to dress proper, putting on your elegant long dress, or your proper suits and tie in this very fine dining rooftop Italian gourmet restaurant, bar, and lounge. If you are so used to seeing food photos in the menu, haha, guess you really read Marini's on 57 carefully, as there is only words, or if you do not know what to pick, just ask for some suggestion from the host.

I did pop out the question: "what if someone miss the seasonal food, but it wasn't in the menu?" Hmm, that's is how it goes then....unanswered!

My CNY Celebration 2014 - Potluck Style

8 Feb 2014 - Dong dong chiang! Alright, our very 1st year after getting married, and what do the Chinese will ask?

"Eh, pretty, 1st year married couple need to give double angpow oh!"

(=.=) No choice la, most important you are happy to get the angpow, it is a blessing for me anyway.

Eh, hello, you need to come to my house to pay me a visit, or when we meet, only I give you angpow okay? *giggled.

Well, I decided to do an open house, but buffet is so boring, and I am so terrible in cooking! So, how?

And then, I decided to have Chinese New Year potluck style. Potluck style means each guests need to bring 1 type of food/ drinks/ fruits, we gather all the food and drinks, get to enjoy so many various food.

Oh ya, we need to separate the non-halal and halal food, as we invited our Malay friends to join us to celebrate CNY.

So this is the food list:

I directly pack the delicious yong tau foo and crispy popiah from the famous Jalan Ipoh Yong tau foo.

Ginny bought the super big soup dumpling from a Sri Petaling food court stall.

Local malay currypuff, our favoutire malay kuih.

Super love Ms Regina decorating the vegetarian colorful Lou Sang (prosperity toss)

Do you know which country started the prosperity toss? *evil laugh....

And so, chicken seems always the popular choices among the family...

and KFC...

Rabia's friend baked a Fun Charity CNY cake! How wonderful!

The Fun Charity gang!

So, as you know, I need to start giveaway angpow lo...this is the proof I give double, everyone is taking double packets of angpow!

The KL couchsurfing gang!

So, next time, perhaps, potluck is a cool way to organize events and parties!
But, those who end up don't know what to buy, trust me, they will buy fast food chicken! LOL!

My M Marini Caffe Diary 2014

March - September 2014 - I was excited when M Marini Caffe opened in the early 2014. Imagine having a classic fine cafe in KLCC! I mean, most of the other cafes are either simply casual, or serving local Malaysia food.

And if you love casual Italian food, you should go to M Marini Caffe. And so many of my friends tell me: "Oh, Marini has a cafe? It must be expensive like Marini on 57!"

Dear all, at least you go and check out their website before judging and spreading the wrong words. It is affordable yet serving you quality food, okay? the cafe with the double TT (guess they want to be named differently), I mean the CAFFE is real good. And the best, you know that you always cannot bring small kids to Marini on 57? Well, you can bring your children to the caffe.

Greeting you with beautiful flowers and a handsome statue.

So I make a diary of my visit to the cafe, from March - September 2014, because I don't want to blog repeating info or food pictures. So, this is what you can get when you are in M Marini Caffe:

All day breakfast set at RM 28-32

Fresh bakeries served with imported butter.

typical toast bread served with salad.

My sweet lover,  you will be oh my god! If you are as sweet as the dolce as per below:

Panna cotta Italian creamy an in vanilla avour and raspberry coulis RM 16

Tiramisu Classic Italian dessert featuring a rich blend of bold avours of cocoa and espresso, with mascarpone cheese and savoiardi biscuit - RM 22

Mini berries and cherries tart- not available in menu (seasonal)

You might be thinking Xmas ball deco on the table? I name this - The melting chocolate ball.

I still remember my sister video recording how the chocolate ball 'bocor' meaning burst in malay...haha, it is melting actually!

Pumpkin soup, not in the menu (seasonal). However, they serve mushroom soup.

House-made mushrooms soup with fresh cream and parsley RM 25

If you are a seafood lover, and crazy oysters maniac:

Freshly air- own oysters at its nest. Oysters are an excellent source of zinc, iron, calcium and selenium as well as vitamin A and B12. Traditionally, oysters are considered to be aphrodisiacs and are most nutritious when eaten raw. What we serve on ice by piece :- Fine de Clair from France. Fresh and delicious live oysters are served with lemon and raspberry vinaigrette, RM 18 per piece.

See all the own-made sauces to go along with the oysters?

Raw Oysters....good for your health!

Salmon crudo - Served with warm garlic-infused olive oil and organic garlic crisps RM 38. I keep on tell the waiter I want sashimi, and he looked at me, puzzled. only then, i realized that crudo means raw, and sashimi terms are for Japanese. so, alright, salmon crudo!

Too yummy, I ordered this everytime I visited the cafe.

And I ordered again!? Ask me to stop, but I just can't...It was so yummy, the taste is definitely not the taste like you have when you are eating sashimi.

One day, I ordered the salmon crudo wrongly. (my fault, didn't see the menu). and end up being served with...

Roasted salmon fi llet with teriyaki sauce served with mashed potatoes and fresh greens - RM 42
The taste was okay, but probably just not my preferred choice.

Cold Pasta

Well, when you have Japanese soba noodles being served cold, why not try cold pasta? So many people are so used to eat hot pasta, that they didn't know cold pasta was actually....

Amazing as you can see... In the cafe, they serve capelline, angel hair pasta.

Capellini with aglio-olio and chilli Served with pecorino cheese and a touch of extra virgin olive oil RM 28

Capellini with prawns Served with avocado, raw Petuna ocean trout, momotaro tomatoes and topped with wild salmon caviar RM 33

Was trying this tropical capellini, served with fresh prawns and fresh olives. not in the menu (seasonal)

Aiyo, now it comes to salad. Oh wait, some of you might think, okay, salad only, I will get hungry easily, but this is not the typical caesar classic is...

Avocado, mango and prawn Mesclun leaves with fresh avocado, mango and prawns , served with pine nuts, cucumber and mint leaves and house-made sweet dressing - RM 35

Caesar salad with chicken Romaine lettuce tossed in house-made caesar dressing served with croutons, sliced chicken and poached egg - RM 32

But if you are aiming for " I want fine food still." You can enjoy caviar in the cafe. Caviar is a delicacy made from the eggs of a roe fish.

Caviar can be served as an appetizer or as a garnish. Known for its butter texture and lusciously salty taste, caviar is also rich in many nutrients such as vitamin A, potassium, omega - 3 fatty acids, vitamin D and haemoglobin. Caviar is expensive due to its limited supply outstripped by constant increasing demand and elaborate time-consuming technique of production. True Caspian caviar is derived from Beluga sturgeon, Osetrova sturgeon, and Sevruga sturgeon. There are two major true caviar producing countries: Russia and Iran. Food gourmands race to obtain the freshest and the best, regardless of cost. Well, I am not surprised, I google search and found out that they are many people who are looking for fine caviar!

See you again! Share me your experience in M Marini Caffe, would ya?
