Wineknot - Wine and Pork Iberico

24 Nov 2017 - Wineknot has the magic to make me come back for second trip again. This time round, we ordered aglio olio spaghetti truffle oil with pork iberico, and rendang pork and sambal petai!

Food presentation was always a great start to make your appetite to crave for this specialty. Don't think you can find this elsewhere, but only at wineknot. The soft tender pork iberico meat sautted with the luxury truffle oil, comes alongwith some chilli to spice up ythe strong aroma. Having to said so, I realize most of the top dishes are always being cooked with Japanese seasonings, real chilli, pepper, and that's it!

You heard of chicken rendang and curry wild boar, but who else will cook pork rendang with petai? Slow cooked for at least 2 days, the moment I chew my first bite on pork meat, it was so flavourful, and mouth watering! I used to hate or anti the pork lard or the 3 layers fats of the pork, but the moment you bite on the pork fats, you don't feel disgusted, but you feel that actually the fats was so soft and to be well-slow cooked with the rendang sauce. Guilty as it seems, but tasty in your life. Petai was always a bonus to add on for this special pork rendang.

Be mindful, the petai smell gonna be stay for long in the mouth, and also in the 'pee'. This is normal phase as you eat petai. Sorry if you feel disgusted, as I am explaining the enjoyment of rendang pork and petai, haha!

27 Oct 2017 - Wineknot at danau business centre, recommended by JL. The name itself makes me pronounce as 'why not' if JL didn't type it out. It's a food trend to use imported black iberico pig, probably there's a demand at Chinese and western f&b outlet. Now regardless of any good pork meat, it falls into the right chef to complete the food taste and presentation.

Stepping into the bar, given a very classic chic mysterious setup, and I'm lol seeing the owner can find so many cute pig deco!

Given a wood fire, bar area, wine display, luxury sofa, private rooms, separate of smoking and non smoking area, the whole atmosphere and the romantic music has just convinced me to order red wine!

A glance looking at the menu, a pause as I look at the price. But then, we understand when a good food portion was presented. Iberico pork collar/ neck was so delicious with it's juicy meat, stewed with black peppers, carrots, capsicums. Priced at RM70.

Kou yuk mee hoon priced at RM40 ++, the normal Chinese favorite, was further enhanced with a touch of sau xing wine.

Staffs were friendly and I was happy at least one of the staff speak mandarin.

Heard my mom said the chef is a beautiful lady. I was like excited?! It is so rare to have women coming out cooking at a modern restaurant kitchen. Ms Bibi, in her well dressed, proper make up, high heels n apron, she was like, very serious in cooking, but with passion! Did a quick chat with bibi online, and she is a lovely lady just to like to cook with passion and love. She just loves cooking, not a graduate or academic base from the hospitality or F&B industry. Love to have some local and Japanese fusion. We were like asking the staffs so many times: "Is your lady boss from overseas? Still can't believe she is local Malaysian Chinese."
Heard no other chefs can cook like her taste. This is truly an accomplishment.

Ordered churchview silverleaf 2015 as I'm looking for smooth red wine paired with the pork dishes we ordered. Immediately the whole bottle of wine was poured into decanter, allowing wine to breathe, but told staff we wouldn't be finishing all, hence pour back into the bottle again. Bring back and ask expert hubby on tasting the wine. swishing wine around your mouth, after taste comes the blueberry and prune taste. The first thought when you gulp down wine like water, you aren't drinking the wine in a correct way. A long way to go...it takes time to really understand the fundamental of international food when it's not born in our culture.
