Kafei dian 源昌隆 - pandan indah

Image
10 Nov 2020 - Kafei Dian opens a new outlet in Pandan Indah. Their original outlet is near the Gwai Zai Hong, KL. Formerly an over 100-years old post office, it retains the original style of the old building and transforms into a coffee shop. I remembered I was there at their main outlet, but the food and beverages are average. I didnt know this old times decorated was the same business shop in Petaling street. When I arrive, most of the menu wasn't ready for sale. I overheard the conversation that most of the food supply will be transferred from Petaling Street to all the branches, like a central kitchen. Since not much choices available, I ordered a bread toast and coffee. Bread toast was the classic hainam bread, with its crisp on its toast, and a cool Anchor butter and a mini kaya spread, it was all good. The coffee, however, doesnt speak of its traditional/ authentic Malaysia coffee. I tasted those unfiltered coffee remainings in it. Coffee wasn't that good. Seems that now...

Creem artisan dessert bar at ampang

Image
20 nov 2020 - 2nd visit to the cafe to try hot food. Basically, all frozen quick cookinf items. I would say, the usp is probably their bar drinks, their local spicy dishes, and their amazing flaky pastries. Cause when it mentions the icecream is handmade, im not sure.. Cause errr..i saw the icecream flavours somewhere in the supermarket, exactly the same flavours 😅 Other than that, hmmm... 14 nov 2020 - Creem artisan dessert bar newly opened at ampang. A new kids on the block in the local neighbourhood ampang point. Very friendly staff and warm. Ambience along with some cafe music. Oh, its bright yellow framed window reminded me of waffles, edible? Just tried a simple masala Chai tea, boiled black tea in milk and water, with aromatic herbs and spices. Just that, the recipe is always contain sugar sweetness in it. Is there any masala Chai kosong? Lol They are having promotion now, buy any 1 mains, free 1 cake slices. Very worth it! They also fresh made their own cakes and desserts. So ...

Restoran 28 Ampang

Image
I found out about this restaurant called 28 restoran, mainly because some of the local introduce here, and also because I loved yong kee pork noodles 勇记猪肉粉。 There are 2 pork noodles stall in the morning but I still like the Sam gan juang 三间庄 style because of the 烧肠。 The bigger pork noodles stall the pork intestines aren't fresh and totally chewy, spit all out.     I like the local kuih muih, local delicacies, pastries stall. Organized and many choices.  The deep. Fried prawn fritters, kuih bakul nian gao, chee cheong fun also very nice. Crispy even after placing there for airing cooling.    I tried the fatty black char siew rice. Roasted chicken very juicy and aromatic.  Siew yuk is in smaller size.  Char siew melts in your mouth but it's on a sweeter sauce side.  Look for: 28 Restoran / 28茶餐室(kampung baru ampang)

Restoran Sing Seong Teck Mui, Ampang

Image
Such a big bowl of porridge with generous fried onions garnishing.. No one really make porridge nowadays. Chee cheong fun is good but the sweet brown sauce contain spicy chilli. The pork noodles also another big portion within the ampang communities. Coffee not nice at all. Restoran Sing Seong Teck Mui, Ampang. Heard their fried chicken is good.  www.jesonestop.blogspot.com

RESTORAN CHAN HAINAM KOPITIAM 赞记海南冰 yulek cheras - petai char keoy teow, hainam coffee

Image
24 Sept 2020 - Everyone go gaga with 'hainam' and 冰室 as the coffeeshop names nowadays. Actually hainam is also the same as cham. Here is the menu, expensive or cheap? I am not sure why there is a hype naming the coffeeshop 冰室 cause the chinese words are more towards Hong Kong style. The neighbors were talking about this new hainam tea coffeeshop at Yulek. So, I went to try this siham sambal petai char keoy teow priced at rm9. What do you think of this combination? Good taste or merely for bring unique and viral? For me, the petai couldnt fit in together with the CKT. BUT, the belacan is so freshly done and very spicy. The cook didnt use the normal belacan paste (dark red color). On the wok hei part, the plate of char keoy teow taste is blanch though. As for the coffee, I personally think their hainam coffee taste nicer than hainam tea. The hainam tea was tasteless on this day, but my 1st visit ordering hainam coffee is good.

Weng onn chicken rice shop, yulek - signature roasted chicken

Image
30 Sept 2020 - Another makan kaki tells me that there is this roadside stall serving very nice roasted chicken and hot pepper soup. Weng Onn is just located opposite the famous Yulek Wonton Mee. The Cantonese BBQ roasted chicken is a very special and famous style available at Weng Onn. A stall that is confident to prepare 10 whole roasted chickens. They must be confident on their roasted chicken. Normally, I will be able to taste dry roasted chicken, unlike the Hong Kong Peking duck style. Weng Onn roasted chicken is soft, juicy, and flavourful. I believe the chicken has been marinated overnight, air dry before roasting. They use back the dripping sauce from the chicken as drizzling. Of course, the skin is not as cripsy like real Peking duck. Malaysia style is wet wet style. Took their bowl of hot pepper soup and it is average on this day. Too much pepper and blanch. However, the meats they gave is generous enough. We may request to refill pepper soup. They give lots of Pig blood curd,...

2020 Mid autumn lantern walk at intermark

Image
20 Sept 2020 - I got to know that there will is a mini lantern walk at The Intermark. Despite the pandemic,  it is rare that shopping malls still organize family related activities within the mall. Upon arrival, the receptionist was busy marking the attendance and passing the kids the lanterns. It is a joyous moment as we can see that the receptionists are all dress up in chinese festival costumes. So the lady receptionist starts to bring us around as the kids follow along.  The kids are really happy to receive goodies each stop. And the most important that it is an opportunity for the chidren to experience a lantern walk in the shopping mall. Nevertheless, the reception is kind and helpful and we get to enjoy the whole walking tour around the mall. It's an experience for the kids. @ The Intermark finally, the lantern walk ends and everyone takes a group shoot as memory. We did tried our best to maintain social distance, but the kids are really excited over the lantern tour!

Shop Homemade products at kravve

Image
18 Sept 2020 - Received an email and stated that I have some RM5 credit being unused. It was a mooncake festive but I would wanna try some homemade ginger powder since my body has a lot of wind. Wow finally got a rough coarse ginger powder instead of the fine ones... Homemade is really tough but passionate business. I believe the Bentong ginger is so strong that I hardly can smell much lemongrass in it. XD But it dissolves nicely in 1 hot cup of ginger tea, although it is a coarse with some ginger roots in it as well. Masseur told me I had a lot of wind in the body and head. Need to take more ginger water to expel the wind out. So, if you are a fan of both ginger and lemongrass, do consider to buy it from this Facebook friend: Chang Piek Yiet Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/P-HomeMade-Bentong-Ginger-Tea-166325560954474/ Check out Kravve too. 'Kravve is Malaysia's largest online marketplace for artisanal gourmet food. The hill restaurant and bar, cheras - indian curry specialty

Image
11 dec 2020 - The place that makes Indian curry food just right. Cause most bars serve western food. New Indian chef but don't have my claypot curry meat anymore (old chef left). Come here if you wanna grab a beer and eat some Indian and fusion food. Their western food is very simple, and it's what you pay for. Cheap and just simple. Mushroom soup full of starches, burger is okay. I like the carlsberg history old photos frames deco but I am not a fan of carlsberg cause it's very sour. 😅 17 Sept 2020 - The hill restaurant bar is a quiet family restaurant bar located near pudu ulu park. Located at corner shop lots below d'alamanda condo, i bump into this place as i was googling for family restaurant bar nearby. Initially i thought why the name as the hill but the bar is not at the hill. After chatting with the owner's daughter, only she shares that the hill was named because the owner likes to do mountain hiking. A cooling draughts beer shall made the day. But the fo...
