The Red Beanbag @ Publika - Australian inspired cafe

22 May 2015 - It was a hype where everyone online start to blog and write about The Red Bean Bag at Publika. So, I thought I go there myself to give a try on their food, to see how great it was.

Pretty much we know that nowadays the cafe modern design will be the same. The classic or some of us will say as minimalist as possible, with less money spent much on the floor or the wall. probably the whole outlet layout and the crowd flow will be more important. everything pretty much concrete.

The only outstanding part would be the bean bags hung on the wall of the kitchen, where you can see the chefs working on your food. Jeez, by the way, I feel pity with the chefs, although you might comment on the hygiene, kitchen set up, able to see the chefs face to face. Don't you think this kind of appeal might be stressful for the workers sometimes?

Well, the menu is pretty simple - 2 pages is all you got. given the 'light' and 'dark' side as it written, choices of starters, light meal, sweet treats, all day brunch, and some hearty meal (not really a proper main course). It is a cafe anyway.

Time for a cuppa cappuccino. As mentioned in their website, guess that was the talk of the town - when theOur head barista, Jason Loo, leads the team with our beloved Red Mean Machine (Nuova Simonelli Aurelia T3). The baker-turned-barista was crowned Malaysia’s Barista Champion in 2013/2014. Their coffee beans are imported from Australia, but as you can see in the photo, it was quite a 'dark' side, as in quite bitter and strong caffeine for me.

I ordered their salmon chowder RM 16, with onions, carrots, celery and potatoes. Oh ya, knowing this is the weekday lunch time, I had waited probably at least 30 minutes to have the salmon chowder. It was too hot when it was served to me, making me frustrated to even continue enjoying it. However, it was not a big exclaimed finest food as it recommended by the staff.

My review: Pretty disappointed, despite all the viral sharing online saying how great and awesome The Red Beanbag is, over exaggeration I believe.

The BARN Wine Bar (1 Mont Kiara) - Awesome Big Breakfast or Brunch

23 May 2015 - We have just finished with my boy modeling audition and was hunting for late brunch at 1 Mont Kiara. Finally, we decided to go to The BARN Wine Bar.

The design was simply chic, spacious and welcoming. Wall built up with bricks, followed by wooden tables, chairs, and sofa bench. Oh well, some simple defined quotes or eye-catching photos to decorate the wall.

Nah, we are not that crazy for drinking at the bar at such a late morning cues, but you will definitely be able to find your right alcohol companion as per the bar display, don't ya think?

Time for wine! As per their tagline in their facebook page, get all the finest selection of old and new world wines from all over the world. Does this mean they have all the wine collection all gather at here? Well, it could be!

Extremely cold when you go into the wine cellar/ wine shop.

Alright, foodie time. Cappucino with love by the barista. I would say this is foamy, creamy rich flavour. However, I recalled that the temperature is way too hot, seems not ideal for the cappuccino.

Here comes the big breakfast set - Everything melts in the mouth just fine. given the scrambled eggs, grilled pork sausage, grilled bacon, sauteed mushrooms, potatoes, and served with two garlic breads, I would definitely ask for the second plate if I am still able to stuff more food in my stomach. But, with such a huge portion, it takes probably 2 person (small eaters) to share this big breakfast. all being well done, no complaint on their breakfast set at all.

My food review: Well, you heard me, although I didn't come here for the wine, but the food quality is definitely worth a try.

Greenhouse by Muir - One-stop Japanese market, cafe, and bakery

24 May 2015 - I thought it was a real thrill to have a new quick Japanese F&B outlet at Jalan Ampang. Located just next to Gleneagles, you will definitely see this amazing 3-levels big architecture glasshouse, surrounded by trees and some old-school bricks built-up - Greenhouse by Muir.

What you ought to get when you are inside, seems it reminds me of a modernized Japanese supermarket, similar to Isetan supermarket, yet more towards dining section moment.

Well done on the interior design as well, really giving you the concept of greenery, big strong ropes hanging over, with the feeling of Japanese designs.

from the start till the end of the section, you will walk into

1)   Evendough Cafe to order your drinks and cakes. For me, the drinks are pretty normal, as in I can get it elsewhere.

2)    Kuroshio Market, the Japanese Seafood Market, where you get to order fresh seafood, fresh oysters, sashimi, sushi,

3)    Hot food section: where you get to eat fried tempura, unagi, rice, noodles, etc.

4)   Last but not least, their Evendough Bakery. However, wasn't really tempted to try their bakery, reason being is the stomach would just say no, after eating all the hot Japanese food, sashimi and sushi...I mean it would be weird for me to try, unless you are a bread lover.

As per their description of their philosophy on what makes them 'greenhouse' - 'Greenhouse by Muir' turns ideas into reality, delivering the idea of Environmental Philosophy & Environmental Ethics through the love for food. Well, I do understand you really use lots of paper box, wooden chopsticks, plastic fork and spoon. However, I am not sure if such act really go green, despite we will keep using those disposable food containers and utensils?

Omg, see how messy it can be? Lost of appetite when we see this. they just mix everything together.

My food review: hot food not hot and nice at all. They pre-cook everything. Everything was served cold.

However, their fresh seafood and sashimi were awesome, fresh, and I would say slightly more expensive from the Isetan supermarket price.

At the very same building, they do have BRYCG restaurant that serves New Orleans cuisine, but I heard it was just an average cuisine moment.

I went Greenhouse by Muir three times for the past 1 year, but it has yet to impress me much. It might look greenery, nature, baronial building, but with its different concept, not to mention this is a self-service area. expect yourself to take lots of food, and end up stuck in a long queue just to pay off the food and drinks.

Main roof to cover all the sections:

Different area has their very own operating hours:

1)   Kuroshio Market: Japanese Seafood Market
Mon – Thu 11:30am -10:00pm
Fri & PH eve 11:30am - 11:00pm
Sat & PH 10:00am - 11:00pm

2)   Evendough Bakery & Café
Mon – Fri & PH eve 10:00am -12:00am
Sat, Sun & PH 9:00am-12:00am

3)   Brycg: New Orleans Cuisine

Fri 11.30am – 11:30pm
Sat 9:30am – 11.30pm

15 Dec 2016 - GrabCar, that had switched its name and concept from the original MyTeksi, seems to be more and more advanced in terms of the driver services that they introduce.

Fantastic Family Stay @ Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort

7-9 June 2015 - Yoohoo, we are going for a family aka business holiday again! This time round, we are heading to Hyatt Regency at Kuantan, Pahang.

Envy you, can take flight at such a young age, but oh well, probably you couldn't recall that you are taking a plane at 1 year old!

I found this colorful rice super interesting, and it is called Nasi Hujan Panas - turn out it is made of Basmathi rice with food colorings of red, green, and yellow. However, it is also nice to go along with ayam masak merah atau ikan keli goreng berlada, probably the famous dishes at the East Coast of Malaysia.

After our lunch, we make a tour to check out the facilities of Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort.

A big and air-conditioned indoor playground for my kid, splendid.

Well, you must come here for the beaches, including the white sands and coral reefs.

We ordered their signature fish at their restaurant, Kampung Restaurant.

Well, someone took my sunglasses and pose like a model.

Sunburn time!

Errr,,,,dry surfing on the sand, my boy?

Feel so safe, luxury, relaxing with such fresh air, ocean breezes, hot sun shining upon us, not to mention this is what I called real private and clean beach.

Well, got to know this famous Hoi Yin curry noodles, walking distance from Hyatt Regency Kuantan resort.

Surprise surprise, Hoi Yin curry noodles are different packaging, taste, from the super strong taste of curry noodles I have at Kuala Lumpur. What they use: half hard boiled egg, fish cakes, bean curd skins, tofu pok, steam chicken, cockles....a light curry soup, served along with the noodles of your choice.

I believe they open from morning till late noon,

And then also within walking distance, everyone seems to go crazy over this fried durian at Windyhills, a kiosk that claims they are the durian king. But, nothing really must try for this fried durian, and it doesn't really impress me. However, if you are a tourist and you can take up the challenge of eating durian, Malaysia king of fruits, with strong odour of fillings, and formidable thorn-covered husk, try this then.

I came back to Sampan Bar, the bar that serves you nice cocktails and special drinks.

Turned out the sampan has a real story behind - a Vietnamese refugee boat back in year 1980.

The side view of the sampan bar.

Once my hubby was free, we took a brisk walk along the beach outside of Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort.

Took a photo as enjoying Eddy Buskers singing some charming English songs, some local Malay songs, as the rhythm can be heard from playing his guitar.

Came back to the Italian Bistro at Hyatt Regency for their authentic Italian cuisine.

Not to mention that with I am with a discerning epicurean and an Italian chef like my husband, we give thumbs up on their fine food and great wine, with the stunning sea views, such a romantic moment!

We also try out their hotel food services to see how great the food was.

My all time favourite Mexican quesadilla, grilled with melted cheese and lots of chicken fillings inside. Different dipping sauces as you can see, I was all satisfied with my order

Curious and try out Cantonese fried Keoy Teow. Well, I am all surprised that the chef really did a very good job with this order as well!

The sound of the wave at the ocean, clear sky, clean water...well, you couldn't ask for more!

And here is my little boy, enjoying the swimming as I ask him to look at the camera.

My hotel review: Definitely a great stay, quiet ambiance, feeling truly private, relaxing and enjoying every moment during my stay at Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort. Hotel room is clean, not to mentioned both local and international food cuisine are super delicious and meet our expectation.

Spectacular Swiss Dream Circus 2015 (Malaysia Tour)

14 June 2015- Well, since when is the last time you get to see a real circus show in Malaysia? I couldn't remember if there's any during my childhood times. I would say none, it could be not popular, or it is too expensive for a child to watch a circus.

Luckily, we start to have more interesting international events coming to Malaysia. I start to see many people share and talk about Swiss Dream Circus. Perhaps a reason to fulfil my childhood dreams, or be it the first time experience in watching a circus show.

I would say I am pretty impressed by the exterior and the interior design of the whole circus.

You will able to grab some snacks, popcorn, drinks upon entrance, as well as being greeted by the well-dressed and friendly staffs.

The specially designed authentic circus tent look amazed from the outside. Upon stepping in, you couldn't imagine how big and spacious the ring was, as in giving you the perfect circus atmosphere,as if this is really a circus to make your dreams come true. All seats are well organised, giving you every angle and obvious view as a spectator.

Three of us waiting for the circus to start. Well, obviously my boy doesn't know what is going on.

Performers from Swiss Dream Circus 2015 are the funny clumsy clown Andre, Los Ortiz and the Colombian Wheel of Death, Ukrainian Jump Rope superstars Double Dutch and Cirque du Soleil favourites, Icarian Games Aleshin Brothers and Aerial Act Ekaterina Shustova.

Here is clown Andre. He is not the usual active funny clown, but act as the clumsy one.

Well, as I want to have some video moments as memory, here are some of the cool stunts by the circus acrobats and performers:

The best part is you get to meet them in person after the show, and also seek for their autographs!
Turned out they engage different circus team every year, we gonna miss you!

There was a message from the Ismail Stork & Marco Baumgartner (Founders of Swiss Dream Circus): "Swiss Dream Circus, together with our partners Le Tresor Legacy Ventures Sdn. Bhd had been doing the circus tour in the year of 2014 and 2015 successfully. Unfortunately, year 2016 wasn't ideal for Big Top to perform at Malaysia."

No worries, we have faith and hope with you. Swiss Dream Circus has been always amazing! It is not easy to capture the public attention nowadays, be it appreciating the hardwork of acrobats or performers. It feels real good to chase after my childhood circus dream, well, we only live once!
