The Red Beanbag @ Publika - Australian inspired cafe

22 May 2015 - It was a hype where everyone online start to blog and write about The Red Bean Bag at Publika. So, I thought I go there myself to give a try on their food, to see how great it was.

Pretty much we know that nowadays the cafe modern design will be the same. The classic or some of us will say as minimalist as possible, with less money spent much on the floor or the wall. probably the whole outlet layout and the crowd flow will be more important. everything pretty much concrete.

The only outstanding part would be the bean bags hung on the wall of the kitchen, where you can see the chefs working on your food. Jeez, by the way, I feel pity with the chefs, although you might comment on the hygiene, kitchen set up, able to see the chefs face to face. Don't you think this kind of appeal might be stressful for the workers sometimes?

Well, the menu is pretty simple - 2 pages is all you got. given the 'light' and 'dark' side as it written, choices of starters, light meal, sweet treats, all day brunch, and some hearty meal (not really a proper main course). It is a cafe anyway.

Time for a cuppa cappuccino. As mentioned in their website, guess that was the talk of the town - when theOur head barista, Jason Loo, leads the team with our beloved Red Mean Machine (Nuova Simonelli Aurelia T3). The baker-turned-barista was crowned Malaysia’s Barista Champion in 2013/2014. Their coffee beans are imported from Australia, but as you can see in the photo, it was quite a 'dark' side, as in quite bitter and strong caffeine for me.

I ordered their salmon chowder RM 16, with onions, carrots, celery and potatoes. Oh ya, knowing this is the weekday lunch time, I had waited probably at least 30 minutes to have the salmon chowder. It was too hot when it was served to me, making me frustrated to even continue enjoying it. However, it was not a big exclaimed finest food as it recommended by the staff.

My review: Pretty disappointed, despite all the viral sharing online saying how great and awesome The Red Beanbag is, over exaggeration I believe.
