How to sign up as Organ donor in Malaysia

Sept 2019 - so become an organ donor in Malaysia is quite easy. All you need to do is either walk in to hospital, call up the hot line as per the image shown.

What I did was I Submit through email and get the card via courier, cause the website is totally down and there is no other sign up link for now...

Upon death, the deceased family members need to present this organ donor card to the hospital, so have the green card in your wallet and depends which option you ticked to decide to donate. Of course upon death, your family members needs to respect the deceased decision but sometimes family members might have their own emotional decision where they end up refuse to give in the organs donations.

For me very simple, as I'm gone, there is no point to Bury the organs while the organs can be used to save other people lives.

###

Assuming to look like 'human' in the funeral parlor. This means my body remains normal good enough for funeral service, while the organs have been taken away.

So, I just tick option a: all organs and tissues.

Where you still can keep your body n other remainings for Crematation or on ground cemetery burial.

As for option b, it is particular into specific organs or body part like kidney, heart, liver, lung, cornea, bone, skin, and heart valve. I believe if you plan to donate all, option b will not allow you to have a complete body for funeral ceremony.

By the way, I have been Calling the general line one whole day but can't go through. Of course, hospital is very busy and I do understand.

Luckily I did ask through the fb page: "derma organ" and also some advice from my nurse friend.

"This card is only a indicator for people to know you are an organ donor. To inform family is to tell them your wish cos of they don't give consent, no one can take away your organ even the card is with you. If accidental death happened, only cornea, bones, skin (which is still in good condition) will be taken. The rest of the organ like heart, kidney, lungs can only be done if brain death and body still supported by life support machines and organs being harvested when the organ still not dead. That's why many organ doner but only a few is successfully donated. Even without the card, they can still check your donation status via hospitals, not depending on that card.
The above mentioned organs can't be donated when one is still alive except 1 side of the kidney only provided the other side is healthy and must be related to recipient. Organ selling is illegal in Malaysia.
Reply from derma organ fb page:

Hi, you will received a pledger card once you registered as organ donor. You have to keep the pledger card with your ID card so that the hospital knows you are an organ donor. If you choose to donate all organs and tissues, your family still will have your body back without any disfiguration.
In transplant process, each operations will be performed in a very best way to preserve the body of the deceased. So that people who come to funeral will not even realized the organ n tissue had been taken away. Tick A means all organ n tissue.

And if you are thinking what if we are diagnosed with cancer:

"Usually if there is cancer/malignancy, we cannot proceed with organ donation, but it depends on which type of cancer and if there is a metastasis."

So if you are curious what's left for one deceased as an organ donor.. These are the answers...
