Preloved and recycling concept @ 1 shamelin
11 Feb 2018 - The quiet one shamelin mall is trying to pick up the traffic again by renting out the whole third floors cater for preloved and green lovers. We have:
1) Artemis Space that resells preloved, recycle, vintage items, they also accept unwanted items, please do pass to them if you plan to throw away anything.
2) Up street - Funky cool arts and crafts using recycled props. Up street is a "home" that enable us to seek back our good old time. The founder - Leonard Chia share his concept and thoughts with me: "We wish to create an interactive center. Our main topic and concern: As advanced technology and modern life, and also consistent improvement for our future generation, the interaction among humans and the harmony vibes are getting lesser . We hope that up street can change the mentality and thoughts of humankind, this is why we create this 'home' paradise. A place not only for business, but a unique venue for you all from nearby or afar to gather in a vibrant space where people can be both entertained and educated.
Environmental protection is the social responsibility for everyone - young, old, rich, poor.
Many people have the misconception that the responsibility should be shouldered by the rich or the elite.
However, that is not true. In fact, everyone has a part to play - small or big - to contribute towards a better environment. One of the most significant steps is to fully utilise limited resources and maximize their usage.
And this can be achieved by practicing the 3Rs - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
This Principle is the common "TOPIC"in the fight against global environmental disaster.
"TOPIC" Ideology - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle - - - - UPCYCLING.
"TOPIC" was founded to support the Ideology of maximizing the usage of resources, adopting the up-cycling methodology. Up-cycling is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value.

4) jalan - jalan japan that sells all import preloved things from Japan. The interesting part is they sell at very affordable price with Japan quality. Seriously cheap.
Catchy items are the tiny japan sandals - geta and zori, lots of surfing boards and diver suits, crazy lots of baby walkers, toys, etc.
I personally feel that our consciousness of going green to save our earth from more rubbish, appreciate recycle, reuse, reduce mentality isn't there yet. Some people still throw away stuff without thinking, or claim they rather don't buy preloved or second hand items because they prefer all new things. But, what's your say on your next generation? Do consider your action. Appreciate what we have now, do something and don't just talk but we are doing nothing. What we do now is not only for us, also for our kids education and their future.
