A charity visit to Cornerstone Home Semenyih

24 Feb 2013 - Referring to the event above, I joined the Fun Charity group https://www.facebook.com/groups/funcharity/ to pay a visit to Cornerstone Home at Semenyih that provides shelter for 25 children, from ages of 5 to 18 years old.
We made a stop at Tesco Extra, Taman Midah, Cheras to buy some of the necessary groceries from the wish list provided by the current principal of Cornerstone, only then we drove to the shelter home. Although some of the products were donated by other donors, we compile other donations and our own money to buy other daily goods.
You must have been wondering, where were their parents? As we all know most of the cases, the children are orphans, or their parents could not afford to raise them, their parents are in difficult situations that prohibit them to get in touch with their children, and so many other reasons.
We can see and feel that the children grow up together as a wonderful and healthy family in Cornerstone. Besides going to school just like other children, they are very discipline in keeping the house clean, and neat. They are also actively involved in sports and art activities. The older children will be responsible to take care of the young ones.
So what did we do after passing the donations and the goods? We asked the children to introduce themselves one by one, and they were not shy to do so. Then, they sang beautiful songs to entertain us, and we also gave each child an angpow (a red packet with money inside) to bless them happiness and good health. Besides that, we told them not to give up their own dreams, and be independent when they are old enough.
Upon leaving, they give us sweet smiles and wave us goodbye by the gate. Such a heartwarming moment.
Please be blessed if you know that you have great family and parents to be with you. Do not neglect them. No matter what, as a child, you are being responsible to be good and kind to your parents. Filial piety is important in life. Remember, you will be in their shoes one day, as an example to become responsible parents.
As for children who are in orphanages or in any other shelter home, do not worry. Stay strong and always be positive in any ways. Love is all around to be with you.
