Frizzy curly haircare tips and products

Before the covid 19 pandemic, I always visit Watson to purchase my haircare and skincare products.
It was a dilemma when we are unsure on new brand products and we couldn't keep asking the staff for recommendation.
So what are the key things you need to find if you have frizzy, curly hair born by nature, like me?
For frizzy and unruly hair, you need a high level of moisture and smoothness shampoo. Smoothing hair shampoos with extra moisturizers and smoothing agents to seal the hair cuticle, detangle strands and provide protection to minimize breakage/ splitends.
Now, frizzy hair doesnt mean it is damaged hair. So, dont really go for [damaged hair] series.Ingredients to look for:
Natural oils- Delivers protection and moisture to hair to keep it shiny and soft. the most commoned oil content I read is - argan oil, morocco oil, olive oil, keratin, coconut oil.
So, I will have to rely on online shopping sites like Shopee or Lazada to see the top-selling items.
And this is a compiled list if you have a frizzy hair. I had tried ALL kinds of haircare paraben free sulfate free but it makes the hairs even bigger and drier. Cause frizzy hair needs oil but the paraben-sulfate free haircare, no matter it is smooth soft, deep moisture, my hairs look worse than the normal shampoo condition.
so, if you found a paraben sulfate-free haircare specifically for frizzy curly hair, please share with me!
So what's the basic routine for frizzy and curly haircare?
- Shampoo
- Super/ intensive conditioner (the normal conditioner is not powerful enough)
- once a week hair mask
- Hair Vitamin mist spray
- Hair serum oil
- Curly hair styling (gel/ sculpting lotion/ milk lotion)
- Sunsilk smooth and manageable
- Watson anti frizz shampoo and hair mask
- Clairol herbal essence
- Dove intensive
- Loreal
- Tresemme
- Petal Fresh (limited presence)

1) SHAMPOO
Do you know that Sunsilk Soft Manageable (pink) is targetting for frizzy hair? I definitely do not know till the SunSilk Facebook Malaysia recommends me! Famous for its nice fragrance too!
The Watson anti-frizz shampoo is pearly white coloured cream type. A very refreshing argan oil fragrance. On the side note, I feel it might be creamy yet uneven texture for my hair.
Enjoy bright, crisp mandarin essences with this Herbal Essences shampoo for frizzy hair.
Instead of pushing the haircare products "Soft and smooth" the haircare brands now change the words to "anti-frizz" which is good, cause everyone wants soft and smooth, but not everyone is facing frizzy hair problem!

Hence, DOVE name the collection as " Nutritive Solutions Anti-Frizz Oil Therapy Shampoo"
Oops, this tub is not a conditioner, but a shampoo, okay?
For Loreal saloon brand, their shampoo collection for frizzy hair is and [Keratin Smooth] and paraben-sulfate free [EverSleek] collection.
Their Loreal collection offers A-Z solution for frizzy hair.
Tresemme has also introduce its frizzy hair collection named as [Keratin Smooth]. Get stray hairs and coarse locks under control with the TRESemmé range of hair care products specifically targeted at frizzy hair.

I was in BIG PHARMACY and bump into this Petal Fresh brand. I will definitely love it because the lavender smell is amazing and mild, unlike other haircare targetting hijab series and strong sweet smell.

2) SUPER INTENSIVE CONDITIONER/ HAIR MASK
Nowadays, most of the commercial haircare brand push their 1 min conditioner. It is difficult to find hair mask and I am glad Watson still selling the hair mask, as it tames my hair and make it smoother to compare with the 1-min hair collagen booster.
For Loreal, they also offer hair mask Keratin smooth. It contains MICRO-KERATIN TECHNOLOGY: Helps fill in micro-irregularities and polish hair fiber by fiber; and also CAMELIA OIL EXTRACT: Known for its hydrating and softening property on hair
Hair feels smooth, soft and bouncy. Fiber by fiber smoothening that makes hair silky and manageable with no frizz.
3) HAIR MIST SPRAY/ LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER MIST SPRAY

I have tried Sunsilk hair mist. I would prefer lime fig scent as they smells nicer, instead of the sweeter strawberries.
I was searching for anti-frizz hair care at Shopee and this pop out. FOLLOW ME Green Tea Anti-Frizz Hair Mist. It nourishes and conditions hair deeply without heaviness – thanks to our Japanese-inspired haircare technology. Leaving a fresh 48-hour scent.
Review: I did buy one to try, it is a strong sweet scent though.
I love Schwarzkopf Hyaluronic Moisture Kick Spray Conditioner 200ml but I would need to purposely search for hair supply shop like Hairdepot. It is only by 2019, more hair products coming into Watsons, guardians, etc.
4) HAIR SERUM/ OIL
Mise en Scene Hair Serum. Back in 2018, I went to Korea and everyone goes crazy for facial mask and Mise en Scene Hair Serum. Loreal Elseve [The elegant French Rose Oil] serum. The elegant French Rose Oil provides lasting nourishment, leaving your hair smooth, shiny and frizz-free with a non-greasy finish. True enough, it doesn't feel sticky and the hair do not feel too heavy for me. Fully absorbed hair serum.
Tresemme Keratin Smooth Serum Designed with a non-greasy formula that leaves hair silky smooth & full of natural movement. 5 smoothing benefits in 1 spray, for hair that’s silky but still full of natural movement.
I went to search on shopee to see what's good for curly frizzy hair. So, I saw some similar products named as MOROCCO ESSENTIAL OIL. Full stop. and I finally found the brand named Laikou, a China brand that specifically has this hair oil serum to tame the frizzy hair.
I bought this [LAIKOU Hair Salon morocco Essential Argan Oil] The Morroco oil is fully absorbed into the hair and you can feel it's very soft and smooth after applying it. Non-sticky feel at all.
For haircare/ skincare products, I would prefer to look for overseas official store or pharmacies like Watsons/ Guardians that selling the products. Feel not so comfortable to buy with unauthorised dealers, unless they are famous/ well-known.
5) CURLY HAIR HOLD/ STYLING
But wait, I am yet to be able to find frizzy curly hair styling. so here's some list of the curly hair styling:
At one glance, we will prefer the curl to be holding up the curl, instead of softening the curl, cause it will even make the hair more volume. I have tried this, but the curl couldn't hold up and it makes the hair too soft.
I remember I bought either [lively wave] Lucido-L Designing Pump Hair but it still softens my curls.
The main difference between Bouncy & Lively is the holding power to hold your curls. If you prefer to have very well defined and solid curl, then we will suggest going for Lively Wave (green). If you prefer to have a more natural and loose curl, then you may opt for Bouncy Wave (orange).
Lucido-L now is pushing their own argan oil, which can be used as a hair serum too.
And this is the ONLY curly hair hold/ styling I could find in Watsons. If there are other choices, please do recommend. Hair wax isn't possible as I feel it is sticky. Based on the photo by Lucido-L, these hair styling is more for long straight hair with soft wavy curls.
What about an affordable curly hair styling? Again, all these shopee English direct translate from Chinese gonna make me crazy. I found this [Morocco Supple Hair Styling Cream]. So far, I super love this, cause I always used JS exclusive sculpting lotion, but it contains like a chemical smell, and sticky.
Have been using JS exclusive curly hair gel for years.
In-time repairing and scalp nourishing, this Morroco Supple Hair Cream contains Argan oil-infused formula helps detangle and add shine to hair. Help maintain hair moisture and also long-lasting curl.
For this, I couldn't find an official store, hence, I bought this from a shopee seller that sells the most. My review: Have been looking a good curly hair anti-frizz styling as it's not easy to get from a beauty store.
Ah, finally found the brand name 【闪赞】摩洛哥弹力素头发造型 but couldn't much more info on the brand.
Product: You might be disappointed with the outlook, as they only use a plain sticker paper as labeling, very nice smell, elastin lotion, non-sticky, my curl looks better!
I also bookmark this for my next curling gel purchase. The name is CO.E olive elastin - moisturizing styling curl. It has some foreigners words, looks like Korea wordings. Again, couldn't find an official store from Shopee. Hence, will buy the top selling seller or whoever offering competitive price.
