Serena spicy Ampang - The Indian Food you will enjoy

27 Oct 2018 - My relative brings me to this Serena Spicy, perhaps some of you might have known of this place.

Given such a build up, where Serena Spicy combines Ampang low residency apartment stay as well.




Surprisingly, the restaurant was quite clean, given to say they were the Indians/ mamak restaurant.




But what I like the most are the varieties. Besides the typical curry chicken, lamb, beef, they also serve deep fried fishes, calamari, prawns, crab, etc.



We choose the normal deep fried chicken with my favourite Indian vegetables. I like this small sized bitter gourd/ cucumber, Chow Chow or Chayote, etc. simply delicious, crispy, tasty.




Ordered a plate of mee hoon goreng. spicy yet flavorful, also a very good wok hei (chinese say) to fry the mamak noodles style using high heat of wok frying.




Next, tried their malay tomyam. Given a generous portion of all kinds of seafood, prawns, calamari, onions, tomatoes, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, fresh Thai chilies, and fresh lime juice, this soothing spicy tangerine tomyam soup will give you a wake up kick.

Parking will be an issue since it is located at village kampong area with small roads, probably 3 cars max parked outside the restaurant.

Based on observation and conversation, Serena Spicy most probably owned by an Indian owner from India.

24 Sept 2020 - Everyone go gaga with 'hainam' and 冰室 as the coffeeshop names nowadays. Actually hainam is also the same as cham. Here is the menu, expensive or cheap? I am not sure why there is a hype naming the coffeeshop 冰室 cause the chinese words are more towards Hong Kong style. The neighbors were talking about this new hainam tea coffeeshop at Yulek. So, I went to try this siham sambal petai char keoy teow priced at rm9. What do you think of this combination? Good taste or merely for bring unique and viral? For me, the petai couldnt fit in together with the CKT. BUT, the belacan is so freshly done and very spicy. The cook didnt use the normal belacan paste (dark red color). On the wok hei part, the plate of char keoy teow taste is blanch though. As for the coffee, I personally think their hainam coffee taste nicer than hainam tea. The hainam tea was tasteless on this day, but my 1st visit ordering hainam coffee is good.
