Teow Chew Taste - Teo Chew Porridge

3/10/2017 -  Chinese says "long long time one time 久久一次" passed by n give a shot at this Restoran makan teochew 美后粥店 at Cheras. Does this mean everyone comes out feeling pretty after eating their porridge? Haha joking...









1st, ordered my typical basic mui choy and preserved vegetables.


2nd, I asked what's special here? Young Chinese guy says fried egg with bittergourd...true, not bitter, and still can taste that the bittergourds are nicely done.

3rd - special salted fish pork meat..interesting combination, at least I can't really find elsewhere.





*6 March 2018 - Came back and try claypot rice on the spot. I can 100% confirm that the overall food presentation and taste is average.


4th packed clay pot chicken rice with salted fish on top. I love the smoked crispy rice at claypot at it's side. The taste, however is average.


Chinese guy asked: "are you eating all these by yourself?" I say ya, who else? He must be thinking OMG,such a hungry fat monster, haha!

N you must be thinking why bother eat teochew porridge with all these preservatives when you can just cook at home? No kaki MA......

RESTORAN CHAN HAINAM KOPITIAM 赞记海南冰 yulek cheras - petai char keoy teow, hainam coffee

24 Sept 2020 - Everyone go gaga with 'hainam' and 冰室 as the coffeeshop names nowadays. Actually hainam is also the same as cham. Here is the menu, expensive or cheap? I am not sure why there is a hype naming the coffeeshop 冰室 cause the chinese words are more towards Hong Kong style. The neighbors were talking about this new hainam tea coffeeshop at Yulek. So, I went to try this siham sambal petai char keoy teow priced at rm9. What do you think of this combination? Good taste or merely for bring unique and viral? For me, the petai couldnt fit in together with the CKT. BUT, the belacan is so freshly done and very spicy. The cook didnt use the normal belacan paste (dark red color). On the wok hei part, the plate of char keoy teow taste is blanch though. As for the coffee, I personally think their hainam coffee taste nicer than hainam tea. The hainam tea was tasteless on this day, but my 1st visit ordering hainam coffee is good.
