Melaka River Cruise - Heritage and Culture River Cruise

Image
Day 2 28 Oct 2019 -   There was a few melaka River cruise counter nearby, and we choose the nearest counter near to the Royal Malaysian customs department museum. Its quite tricky cause we didn't know behind the customs. Museum has such a big parking, and we were busy finding public parking area. Parking Lot Melaka River Cruise : https://goo.gl/maps/A5BLTXu3pWndNu9d8 Night was a chaotic queue, hence we opt for the day river cruise. We do not know which jetty we huh the tickets though, should be the melaka rover square jetty. Ticket price is around rm25 for adults, and kids at rm15. A 45 minutes ride with lots of mural art on the walls, historic bridges and a sneak peak of the kampong mortem. The captain ensures the passenger safety and turn on the auto speaking tour guide audio as he drives you pass by each destination. First glance was many interesting cultural and modern contemporary mural arts behind the shop or residential small shop houses c

Lian Pang Kopitiam Melaka - Wanton Mee, Chee Cheong Fun

28 Oct 2019 - It was a drizzling rainy morning where the kids couldn't enjoy the pool, ouch! So we head off to the coffeeshop nearby the shore - lian pang kopitiam, just because the other coffeeshop opposite the road has no one! 😂 While you can't resist to order the Malaysia breakfast style - coffee, half boiled egg, kaya toast bread, we order others to finish off the breakfast hunger. Chicken rice ball was a trend in melaka, don't know who created this kinda chicken rice balls. But the rice was cold and nothing much to shout about. The cold cut white chickens are delicious though, although you can't compete with the ipoh chicken. Saw Google and most people order the wonton noodles where you can see a short queue in demand. Aunty will ask you if you prefer spicy or non-spicy. Their dark soy sauce base is lesser then those in kl. Pretty good serving of char siew bbq, shredded chicken slices, wonton dumplings, and green vegetables, springy wonton noodles. Surpris

27 Oct 2019 - Drove past the melaka marina and manage to get a sight of the big ship cruise.... Didn't go down for a photo selfie check in cause everyone is tired. We saw a group of tourists waiting for the arrival of their ship. A beautiful sight in life. But just a quick stop to see the scene and nothing much you can do here. Melaka Marina: https://goo.gl/maps/2G8iQe9VeaYxtTzFA The Shore Hotel and Residences Super Long queue upon check in. Waited 40 mins with 7 people in front of me, and 3 counters open for check in. I would suggest they rather have an automated self check in machine will be better to attend to the high peak season. And I didn't know swiss garden hotel is sharing the same pool, gym, sauna facilities with the shore. Both hotels located in the shore shopping mall, but we have no time to go to the mall at all. Cause kids change into their swimsuit and rush for the playground pool to have some fun. The adult pool is separated f

Nyonya Taste Cuisine @ Kota Laksamana

Image
27 Oct 2019 - A quick 5 minutes drive away from the Melaka city to come to Kota Laksamana for a proper nyonya / peranakan food hunt. You can't complain much when you are so tired and hungry after a long walk under the hot sun at melaka jonker Street. We avoid long queue from Nancy's kitchen, where we googled this nyonya restaurant with no queue at all. 😂 If you enjoy some history story of the peranakan origin, it started since Princess hang li poh married sultan malaya. Some say their language is a mix of hokkien Chinese, malay jawa, and later on.. Lost in transition as younger generation speak less. I do wonder if any still speak the origin peranakan language. Restaurant was decorated with lots of heritage nyonya kitchen props. A cosy simple comfortable ambience are fine for simple authentic nyonya food. Might not have lots of choices but you won't be ordering all anyway. We ask for recommendations but the aunty who put down the order seems not good in giv

27-28 Oct 2019: So as a busy parent, it is a record-breaking moment as husband finally agreed to go for a family trip, also because our big kiddo keeps saying he wants to go for a retreat! And off we go to Melaka trip from KL, as early as 8am, with a 2 hours journey, we arrive at the Melaka city. MARITIME MUSEUM First thing we do is park near the city and explore the maritime museum to see the history of all the warriors, cannons, ships... The ship is purposely built eh or was it from the ancient time? Actually, I know the answer, just hope to have some historical ancient ship in the modern days! 34m-high, 36m-long and eight-metre-wide of Flor de la Mar, a Portuguese ship. As everyone knows, Melaka is a mixed conquer during the colonial times, namely: the Malacca Sultanate, Portuguese, Dutch and British administration era. Melaka is one of the main port in Malaysia for many tradings business during the olden days. It was a thrill to explore this real size ship. https://g
