Is Wong Hoy Shan Pork Organs Pepper Soup @ Taman Midah Cheras really 'pepperful'?

24 Feb 2016 - Got a buzz from my girl-friend, Elise who is a 10 years senior in Insurance saving plans, and financial planning. We were discussing on some forced saving plan that I plan to have, since I start to see my account run dry, chuckle...Oh ya, have to remember this day as well, as I was rushing to buy birthday cake for hubby...we have a promise to must have birthday cake on our birthdays.

Oh yeah, if you want to really get to know what kind of financial planning/ insurance that you really need, you can consult Elise Wong at 019-2811899. Tell her you get to know her from Suki Jezz blog. Get to know this fantastic saving plans giving you guarantee min 5% throughout the whole plan, it could be more ya. And then cashback into your account starting 2nd year. Not bad if you want to force yourself to save, or if you transfer your FD money for this plan. saving plan + insurance. I probed her so many times until me myself can memorise all the info, LOL.

So she proposed to eat at Wong Hoy Shan Pork Organs Pepper Soup. Finally, someone asks me out for a street food, and you gonna sweat as you eat the hot pepper soup in such an open area.

I am almost sick of eating porridge, because I always eat leftover baby porridge cooked by my mom. So, what's so great about porridge? When you have different ingredients inside to blend in the so called rice cooked with lots of water.

Pork ribs and peanuts porridge, not to mentioned that this is really a big bowl of porridge.

Sour and spicy preserved vegetables, always to good to serve with plain porridge or rice. Actually, most of their food are pre-cooked dishes in one big pot, which means it is really flavorful and soft tender meats or dishes.

So this is the pork organs pepper soup, so what's cooking inside?

A close-up of the ingredients: lean meat, pork heart, small intestines, friend intestines, pork blood, pork stomach/ belly, and some onion leaves.

see the big wok there? Yes, a big wok of hot pepper soup.

Comment: Wong Hoy Shan pepper soup would be fantastic for you to try on somehow different. It is not easy to get good pepper in a soup. Cannot compare with Kajang hot pepper soup, but this is not that bad as well.

You gonna sweat as if you are in a sauna. Therefore, casual wear, and yeah, lotsa people come here for dinner though.

Fresh and Raw Seafood in Yamaguchi Fish Market, Kampung Pandan KL

13 Feb 2016 - Well, where else in KL to get nice fresh seafood? I was thinking to go to hotel to try out the normal buffet with international cuisine, places like Lemon Garden Seafood Buffet by Shangri-La Hotel was really a good-to-go for seafood lovers but I don't want to go alone eating like a monster, same goes as when you dine out all by yourself. Sound pitiful right? Date me perhaps, we can go out to hunt for food.

Jason told me that he found out there is a new Japanese fresh seafood restaurant in Kampong Pandan. My eyes were like blink-blink, Oh really? How could he manage to find out about the place when he is in Singapore, where else I have always been in KL all the time, but never heard of it before.

Later, get to know that Jason got to know about Yamaguchi from Sean eatdrinkkl.blogspot.my

Finally, kinda persuade Jason to treat me and others relatives a big seafood feast, some are their top 10 recommendations:

This is their garlic steamed oysters. Well, fresh seafood, always come with a touch of garlic, ginger, or lemon twist. Strong yet soft steamed garlic to be on top as serving....aromatic and nice.

Ice blended chocolate mint. unfortunately for me, I really hate sweet stuff, but with a little mint to comfort your throat, I think this is unique as well.

We found this Seafood Nabemono, seafood hot pot served with vegetables. We only take the photo of the prawn, all because the prawn is big to attract for us to take picture. It is a normal mini steamboat clear water with lots of vegetables and not much fancy seafood in the hot pot though.

Fresh oysters and Salmon Sashimi at RM 48. Normal price is RM 75. We took 3 sets of this. Super fresh and tempting, with a thick sashimi cut for the salmon.

Well, you see 75% of the photos in the blog are oysters, so you know how crazy we are into fresh raw oysters!

Well, gonna game on to enjoy some maki-maki. I actually like maki-maki over sushi actually...properly I prefer all flavours into one...it is like rojak, haha!

Oops, back to maki-maki...crab meat, keep rolling with all the fresh vegetables, it was loud although I bite on it softly, due to the crunchy fresh vegetables, luckily I did not make everyone turned their head to see the noisy me... and oh yeah, I want to tell you, that I have never tried some a fresh caviar eggs before. Burst in your mouth as you bite it, omphhhhh....

I didn't take much on the open fish market concept as I am not good in introducing it. But, it is indeed very inspired by the Japan fish market, and the way they design the fish pond are definitely somehow different.

I see most of the waiters are foreigners but speak good English, this is an extra point of course. Imagine a food outlet hire foreigners who doesn't speak English, just because their salary is lower and perhaps they are more hardworking than the locals, but if they cannot commmunicate, what's the point?

Some of their chefs are Japanese, locals...some...might be foreigners? Cannot see from their looks. I have a perception, that hand-skilled sashimi cut should be done by Japanese, and the utmost, locals are fine too. No one else, please...I cry when I see Sushi Tei is full of foreigners as their chefs, and charging you as such a high price.

In terms of the menu, I would say they are doing mostly on seafood, and then I found there is rice and noodle at the corner of the menu. Probably just to give more alternative options to those who came here for carbo and not much on fresh and raw seafood I guess. But for me, i won't come here for that.

Alright, here comes the story, we were supposed to meet directly at Yamaguchi in different cars. I can tell you we pass by the place, and didn't even realized it! Turned out Yamaguchi is actually behind Cafeinees. Well, you should have an arrow signboard to direct people that Yamaguchi is situated at your land area? Plus it's a one way street, gotta make a big U-turn, only then reach the place. Yamaguchi sign board is not easy to be seen at all.

My Comment: Freshness 100% yes, but guess too many things they want to promote in the menu. Price is slightly expensive, wouldn't go there if there's no promotion, or opt for more affordable selection. Concept of  the fish market is unique. But well as you know, you won't be too full when it comes to enjoy seafood and shelled seafood. This, you should know...only carbs, protein, and lots of poultry will make you full. You shall come for freshness of the seafood.

28 Fireplace is on fire @ Ampang

As the usual trend, a simple interior design, it seems like a basement kinda feel. With the lightings, and a fireplace (not sure it's real or not, but it's not in the picture), the place is really on fire!

4 Oct 2015 - Normally you can't really get a real nice cafe in Ampang, a cafe with nice ambience, cosy area. So I was browsing around my favourite food booking app, http://offpeak.my/ and it brings me to 28 Fireplace. Figuring out where is it located, only to realized that a new cafe opened at the same row with La Risata Ampang. What I can see that 28 Fireplace pre-made most of the sandwiches, and selling pastries and cakes at their glass display area.

So this is the menu, volla! All the caffeine, non-coffee drinks, and some small bites.

Ciabatta Chicken Pesto with a side salad. Normally we have pesto sauce in pasta, and this is something different!

Tiramisu Torte - Layered tiramisu....hmm, how to describe this? Well, I feel it's crunchy with the peanut toppings, and the soft texture of the tiramisu layered cake.

Last but not least, a lovely cappuccino with the turquoise color of the cuppa. You know, I really love the turquoise color....or is it sky blue?

To be somehow different than other cafes, I would say their sandwiches would be great to try. However, if you are super hungry, please don't go to the cafe, as they serve small bites and coffee just like StarBucks. Well. just a reminder.

Unable to find their menu in their Facebook, and they don't have website.

Professional and Affordable House Renovation - Pebble Stones, Tiles, Mosquito Net

Jan 2016 - My husband and I have always been frustrated to search for contractor, especially when it comes to do some minor renovation at house.

We have major problem that we faced, for example, to do strong mosquito net since we are staying near to forest, and we have monkeys, and mosquitoes come and visiting us.

I have many friends recommendation and also many contractors come to check on our house, all of them just went off unanswered after the visiting, just because they feel that too much work, too little money earned I guess.

Luckily, one day, Mr Antony Dass from PPCS , our pest control guy from Ampang & KL, introduced us to Rudy and Izad. By the way, if you are looking for pest conrol management, please look for Anthony +6016-978 4208, 03-4296 8549, tonyppcs@yahoo.com.my

Rudy and Izad came to our house, and we had discussed over the problems that we have, and remarkably, Rudy is the only contractor who didn't ask us to remove everything and buy everything new. He will consult and tell us things that are practical, logical, and things that you do not need to buy, and reuse. Now, this is what I called it as efficiency and smart.

So these are the things that we have done:

Change all windows wood frame to aluminium. To do this, they need to remove the wood frame, apply cement as aluminium frame is smaller than the wood frame, and install back the window and the grill.

fixing the strong mosquito net to prevent monkeys and mosquitoes.

originally cement, we put on tiles and black and white pebbles stones.

did a close up to let you see, maybe you want to have such designs as well.

Original wall was cement base, and now with beautiful black and white pebble stones. Asked Rudy why can't we put tiles directly? He explained because our walls were uneven, as our house is on hill, a bit sloppy and uneven.

Close-up on the pebbles stones. Rudy says we need a professional worker to do such designs. Everyone can buy and just put, but to do the finishing is challenging.

Overall the renovation take up to almost 3 weeks, seem a bit slow for me, but i believe some part of the renovation work need more time, for example, to wait for the cement and the paint to dry out, and so forth...I would say both Rudy and Izad are patience, and they have value-added service by helping me fixing other tiny renovation works without charges. Which is why, it is worth introducing Rudy and Izad more business.

As for house cleaning after renovation, I get straight from kaodim.com without worries. Although some are pricey, but cleaning up the house after renovation was a huge mess. And if we stay at the home during renovation, we will breathe and live with the dust.
