RGB Coffee at the Bean Hive - Coffee Micro-Roastery and creative vegetarian food

16 April 2016 - Well, the first word that I always can think of when someone mention about RGB is that - the cafe serves vegetarian, healthy choices of food. Probably others might give just some twist about the cafe. Here's why.

I need to meet my girlfriend, Lynn, as she asked me to purchase some eco products from Melaleuca, well the powerful detergent to protect the white uniform of her kid, Ivan. Well, some housewife gathering, huh? Well, this is us, full-time busy mama, huh?

So she asks me where to meet up in KL. "Any nice cafe?" "well, I heard of this RGB cafe, let's try to meet up at there." RGB stands for Rather Good Beans.

Alright, GPS does bring me to the right place, just that I wasn't sure it's the cafe. Wonder why?

Here's why. Can't see the signboard till you reach their entrance. There's no signboard outside, as far as I can remember.

You can see it is managed most probably by a closed family business, staff being very friendly. However, the hot weather could have turned us into the new BBQ RGB customers, especially when you are sitting outdoor area. They do have indoor air-conditioned are, it was packed.

I went to the counter, asking for recommendations since this is the first time coming to RGB. "So, what's nice as per the people say? Is all your food vegetarian?" Well, the answer is NO. Although you can see most of their food are healthy and vegetarian. They do serve some meats. Well, meat lovers, if you want to eat healthy, yet crave for meats, probably you shouldn't skip RGB cafe.

Took the Mcbrocolli Burger - Broccoli, almonds, mushrooms, and cheese. RM 21 for the burger. I took the one that serves with Quinoa Garden Salad, since I am not a fan of french fries. I would say it is really interesting...with all the combination of the vegan meat-free burger piece, I am sure they mash or blend all to make the vegetarian burger. Lots of vegetables to be eaten along.

Didn't order their coffee, as it was so hot to be in the outdoor area. A bit surprised with such a cafe, they charge RM 1 for distilled water, this means less happy on such terms. Well, different cafe has different rules.

*Receive update from RGB facebook admin:

"We charge RM1 on water that goes to a charitable cause as our water is triple filtered and we had experienced guests wasting water when we did not charge for it. RM1 is charged for a large 1L bottle which is enough to share though. You may request for tap water which we do not charge for if you do not want to pay for water."

Parents, good for you, as RGB has a little corner for the kids to play around, as you enjoy your meal or drinks in RGB.

Overall, pretty good for a cafe. Burger was home-made, so RM 21 was okay for me. And, remember, it is not 100% vegetarian and vegan.
