Restoran Teochew and Hakka, Jalan Ampang - Dry Ipoh Ho Fun and Teochew porridge

Image
*No longer serve the ala carte dish like keoy teow unfortunately. 20 Nov 2015 - I bumped into this Restaurant Teochew and Hakka Jalan Ampang, when I moved to Ampang and searching for nice food. the chinese restaurant was decorated with lanterns, contemporary lights, chinese calligraphy, wooden chairs and marble table, and a bicycle was hanging on the wall to beautify the place. i took some preserved vegetables and a plain porridge. I don't really like the charges because they are charging RM 2-3 per VEGETABLE dish, it's considered not cheap. What I like is their dry ipoh ho fun. their soya sauce and deep fried onion makes the whole plate of ho fun full of flavours! They also provide you river fish, but as it is only me and my baby, we couldn't order the fish. Others ala carte food, for example: nasi lemak, prawn mee, fu zhou fish ball, hainanese chicken chop, and sang har noodle. Unfortunately, on that day itself, before the boss and lady

Nice Banana Leaf Rice at Betel Leaf Leboh Ampang

Image
21 Nov 2015 - My good IT sifu friend, Mr Navanit, recommended me to this banana leaf rice in KL - Betel Leaf Lebuh Ampang. It is not easy to get parking around the restaurant. So we parked at the open public parking at the back of the shop and walked to there. It is located on the first floor, so we need to climb up steep stairs to have our Betel Leaf banana rice, so elderly or OKU might have difficulties to go to the restaurant. My baby is fascinated about the sweets being displayed at the counter area. See the lunch crowd and the environment? Cosy, clean, good services, and you feel comfortable dining at here. The toilet is clean as well. This is the banana leaf set! south Indian banana leaf style; 11 types of vegetarian and resam, along with papadum and a capati RM 12. the gravy curry chicken that was very spicy, and the dry mutton. First time trying tandoori fish. It is called Ajwani Fish Tikka, a boneless Delicate fish pieces marinated with

Restoran Kebun Kelapa, Klang - clams soup, fried squid, salt-baked prawns

Image
6 Nov 2015 - I and my relative went to Klang to buy the diabetic shoes from FootLink, and since I was in Klang, I called up my Klang buddies to have our dinner in Restoran Kebun Kelapa, Klang. This restaurant was used to be super famous, as I remembered coming to this restaurant when I was a young child. too many new restaurants opened nearby to them, so yeah, competitors. but then again. they are the only one who still prefer to hire Chinese chefs, local staff to work in the restaurant, no wonder I still trust their food after so many years. Clams/ Lala, stir-fried with chilli padi and gingers, and adding on Chinese cooking wine. the clams are big and it was simply tempting. recommended. I used to have fried lala meehoon as my favourite when I go to seafood restaurant, but this was too dry, I prefer the 'wet' style. Mini fried prawns? this is actually deep fried squid! strongly recommend this dish, and this goes well with a glass of beer, teehee!

You cannot miss out Nirwana Banana Leaf, Restoran Sri Nirwana Maju, Bangsar

Image
22 Nov 2015- I think I break record of eating banana leaf rice for consecutive two days over the weekend. And at here, we have a meetup with Caroline and Alex in Nirwana Banana Leaf, Bangsar. Alex from Austria missed banana leaf rice, nyum nyum. I remembered having my Nirwana banana leaf rice in a late night 4 years ago after my bf (now husband) came back home from his work in restaurant, and we went to there for supper, but I cannot recall how was the food. And this is the crowd in the restaurant. there was a long queue from the entrance till the road, where the staff do booking and faster making pre-order as the customers are waiting for their tables. We ended up have a quick Japanese coffee at the cafe next to the mamak. And here we go, nasi briyani, chicken thigh, crispy bitter gourd that is not bitter at all, and other vegetarian dishes. Hey, did you know that we can refill the vegetarian fillings? Crap, because I do not know. (=.=) the normal banana leaf rice costs RM 8-9, ch

Moderate dining moment at Nyonya/ Peranakan food Straits Food Company, Bangsar

Image
22 Nov 2015 - After enjoying our banana leaves rice in Nirwana this morning, my family and I intended to try out Nyonya Food in Straits Food Company in Bangsar as our dinner treat. As you can see, the design and the branding was modernized and conceptualize. Unfortunately, the whole restaurant was operated by the foreigners. Here is the food that we order: popiah, nyonya laksa, Ayam Pongteh (nyonya chicken and potato stew) I can taste the juicy big-cut sized radish in their popiah, but I would say it is moderate for me. So far, the modern popiah that I liked is Sister Popiah, where you can get it in most of the shopping centres. Their ayam ponteh, was braised at the right flavour. both chicken and potato stew are soft, flavourful, flavored with taucheo(fermented soy bean sauce) and gula Melaka (palm sugar) in the dark soya sauce. Nyonya laksa. as you can see, this is gonna be fattening for me.  Polygonum Vietnamese mint or daun kesom, Belacan, candlenu

Healthy, delicious and affordable food in Mid Valley and The Gardens

Image
I was based in Midvalley for 2 months, and throughout these 2 months, I realized that you just need to spend at least RM 15 for better food, or else you can go to the food court - MAKAN PLACE in LG floor, Oasis Food Court in 2nd floor, and Food Junction on 3rd floor. But trust me, you are really risking your life eating all those Ajinamoto, or unhealthy food. So I just list down a food list where I think there is a balance portion of carbo, protein, fibre, and more healthy way of cooking. Budget is normally from RM 7 - 15, anything more than that, it is pricey. Ko Hyang Korean Country Delights. I took ther handmade noodle soups with generous vegetables given to me. http://www.kohyang.com.my/ The Gardens Mid Valley City LG K-05, Lower Ground Floor kohyangmidvalley@gmail.com Bought this sushi set from AEON. They do have special promotion, or 30% discount after 8pm.please do not go to AEON BIG to buy their sushi, terrible quality, althugh it is cheap like RM 1 both supermarket are kinda
